December 30, 2002: The Lone Pine Film
Festival has been selected as a 2003 Top 100 Event in North America
by the American Bus Association. A committee of motorcoach and travel
industry professionals evaluates the entries based primarily on
their appeal and accessibility to motor coach groups. Each year,
100 U.S. and Canadian events are selected for the program. The events
range from jazz or history festivals to celebrations of American
Indian culture. Originally nominated by California Tourism, the
Festival hopes this will mean more busloads of people coming to
enjoy the 2003 Festival already in the planning stages. Two bus
tours have already reserved 80 places for the weekend of events,
concert and dinner in the rocks scheduled for June 11-12. Museum
Executive Director Chris Langley will also be meeting seven busloads
of tourists during the spring and fall for tours of the locations
in the Alabama Hills and the telling of some of our favorite Lone
Pine film stories. 2003 already looks to be a busy year for the
Lone Pine Film Festival and Museum.
