| Dear Sirs:
After attending eight of the Film Festivals, I have thoroughly
enjoyed the diversity of events that have been planned. Along
with my neighbors
and friends, I plan to bring along my Celestron 11" NexStar
GPS telescope. For those who might like to look at "heavenly
stars", besides the Hollywood
stars present, I would be happy (as member of the Las Vegas
Astronomical Society) to share my telescope with any members
and guests who like to observe Mars, the moon, Andromeda galaxy,
Hercules globular cluster, and many more exciting celestial
bodies. This could be done any evening after dark and for
as long as people are willing to stay up to view the stars.
I would like to make contact with an honored guest and friend,
who
also happens to be an amateur astronomer, Mr. Leon Boyer.
Being
involved with
the Sheriff's department, I thought he might be able to suggest
some
suitable and safe spots for observing in the Lone Pine vicinity.
Any advice or assistance you could share would be appreciated.
This
is just one more way of trying to give back to Lone Pine and
the Festival what I
have received during the past eight years. The Columbus Day
weekend is
always special for us. We will be staying at the Best Western
Frontier
Motel in Lone Pine during the Festival.
Thank you very much.
