September 24, 2002: Everyone is invited
to help us commemorate a very special event on Friday, October 11
at 3 pm. The first day of the Film Festival will coincide with a
celebration of the historic land transfer and purchase of the location
for the soon-to-be built Beverly and Jim Rogers Museum of Lone Pine
Film History in Lone Pine. Patrons Beverly and Jim Rogers, and officials
from the City of Los Angeles and the County on Inyo will be on hand
for what is termed a commemorative land transfer celebration
at the site of the future Museum. A prime location for visitors,
the lot is located on South Main Street, one block south of McDonalds. As
one Museum Board member remarked, There can be no better way
to kick off our 13th Festival than by celebrating the work that
has gone into purchasing the land with the cooperation of the City
of Los Angeles, and through the help of the County of Inyo Supervisors!Local
citizens and the Museum Board members raised over $230,000 in just
over two years to buy the land, an enormous achievement for a small
community.
