May 4, 2002:   Audie Murphy achieved double popularity during his life. He was the most decorated World War II hero, and later he was a popular movie star. If you stop to talk to Barbara Bahl of Lone Pine, you can find almost anything you want to know about Audie Murphy because she is our local number one Murphy fan. Because of her enthusiasm and knowledge, we are honoring Audie this year on our Festival button and also with a special panel. Barb is well known at the Audie Murphy Research Foundation and provided the Festival and Museum a disk of all the material they had on Audie’s three Lone Pine Films. The films are Hell Bent For Leather, Posse From Hell and Showdown. Barb is also good friends with Sue Gossett who wrote the book The Films and Career of Audie Murphy. Thanks, Barb for helping us research and celebrate Audie Murphy as he should be honored. Be sure to touch base with Barb when at the Festival. She can be reached by email: info@lonepinefilmfestival.org

Sue Gossett’s book was published by Empire Publishing Inc. Box 717 Madison, NC 27025-0717 tel. (336) 427-5850
