April 24, 2002: The lone Pine Film
festival will be showing the following Festival weekend FREIGHTERS
OF DESTINY (1931) Tom Keene becomes the leader of a wagon train
on the way west, Directed by Fred Allen for RKO, look for wonderful
long shots of the covered wagons going through the Alabama's.
HOPALONG RIDES AGAIN (1937) Not seen at the
Festival since 91, this action-filled Hoppy features a rustler
masquerading as a scientist hunting dinosaur bones. Watch for the
famous scene of the wagon buried by the landslide.
THUNDER MOUNTAIN (1947) Tim Holt returns home
to be thrown in the middle of a feud instigated by a dishonest saloon
owner in league with the town sheriff. What it lacks in faithfulness
to the Zane Grey story
it make up for with plenty of action.
